Get or Renew your ShieldID (ABC#)

ShieldIDs (ABC#s) are anonymized background check numbers that are assigned upon the purchase and completion of a criminal background check from an accredited Consumer Reporting Agency (CRA) partner.

ShieldIDs can be used by clients and partners to search, verify, and monitor a ShieldScore as part of a trusted network.  ShieldIDs are designed to provide portability by allowing users to share their data with multiple clients and partners. 

New Customers

If you are new to ShieldHub, purchasing your background check is easy. 

1. Start by registering for a Free ShieldHub Account. Visit Registering with ShieldHub for a step-by-step guide on registering. 
2. Purchase A Background Check - Click the purchase background check button to start the purchase process.  For additional assistance on purchasing a background check visit Purchasing a Background Check.  

You will need to have a camera phone to take a selfie and a valid form of government ID with your photo, for example a driving license, passport or state ID. 

Renewing a ShieldID

If you have allowed your ShieldID to expire, you can renew by purchasing another background check and maintain the same ShieldID.

For Customers Before December 20, 2023

If you purchased your background check from ShieldHub prior to December 20, 2023 you likely purchased your background check from our CRA partners prior to the launch of the new hub.  In order to facilitate renewals, it's likely that your account information was moved into the new hub.

To retrieve your account, use the forgot password process using the same email you used to originally purchase your background check.  If your email matches a ShieldHub account, a reset email will be sent to you. For more information about password recovery visit: Password Recovery

Once you gain access to your account, please verify that accuracy of the account information.  To renew your ShieldID click the Buy Background Check from the left sidebar navigation.

For Customers After December 20, 2023

You likely purchased your background check through ShieldHub.com. To renew your ShieldID:

1. Visit www.shieldhub.com
2. Login using the credentials you used when registering your account.  If necessary, you can reset your password using the Password Recovery feature.
3. Click the Buy Background Check Button to start the purchase process.
   
4. Visit Purchasing a Background Check for step-by-step instructions on how to complete the purchase process.
